About Us

Aspelund Ridge is a compact breeding and training operation focusing on dressage.  It is situated on ten acres in central Alberta.  The facility consists of turn out paddocks, a four stall summer barn, a new three stall foaling/stallion barn, a solid sided round pen and a 20m x 60m outdoor dressage arena.

A small number of select broodmares are crossed with top stallions from across North America.  Check out our mare page to see what crosses we are looking forward to next year.  The breeding operation has recently begun expanding with intentions to soon offer breeding to stallions from top European dressage bloodlines.  Our young stallion, Sovereign Hit is an exciting prospect with the bloodlines that are winning stallion licensings and approvals in Europe.

Aspelund Ridge offers training with FEI dressage rider, Sheri Bresee.  All training of the Aspelund Ridge horses is done by Sheri who also takes outside horses in for dressage training.  Sheri has been training dressage horses for ten years and has competed internationally in CDI competitions as well as being ‘B’ listed for the Canadian Equestrian Team.  Sheri has trained regularly with Canadian Olympic Team rider, Leslie Reid.  Sheri has a strong interest in training young dressage prospects for the FEI Young Horse dressage tests.  She applied and was accepted to the Young Horse Dressage Trainer’s Symposium in 2006 and will be attending again in 2007.  This is a fantastic opportunity to work with top young horse trainer’s from around the world:  Scott Hassler, Ingo Pape and Michael Klimke to name a few.

Aspelund Ridge has young prospects and going dressage horses offered for sale.  The horses offered on our sales page are all either offspring from our breeding program or are in training with Sheri Bresee.  Our young horses have all had good basic ground handling and regular farrier and health care.  They are raised in a group environment.  The training horses have been working with Sheri Bresee in a dressage training program that is well rounded.  Work includes flat rides, chute jumping, free running and field riding to make sure the horses are the best possible prospects for their new owners.

Sheri also offers dressage lessons to students of all levels.  She has taught from beginner up to the FEI levels.  Students are competitive at schooling shows, National shows and even International shows.  One student recently made the Canadian Team for the North American Junior/Young Rider Championships.
